Re: Explain the difference between cloud and traditional datacenters?
Traditional data centers can be in two forms. One which is in-house and is maintained by trained IT employees or second is hosting it at a third party data center that maintains servers and other equipment required to keep the data accessible. The data centers in both the forms require continuous power supply and backups systems and be abundant in their hardware components with alternate modes to fall back upon at times of any outages or issues. Traditional data centers are maintained and managed by professional qualified technicians and every issue including upgrades or increasing of resources at times of peak traffic can only be done with human intervention which may have an impact on performance at times.
Cloud is far more flexible and elastic. Your data is stored across multiple locations. You can access your data from anywhere and your data is always available on demand even at times of issues and outages. All the maintenance and infrastructure is done by the service provider. You can scale your requirements either way i.e. increase at times of peak traffic or remove unwanted resources whenever you want without any human effort. It will not affect your website performance. Cloud is more cost-effective as you pay only for what you use.
