Domain parking is a term used for buy and reserve a domain name for your website which may still not be ready or you may want to use it for some other business that you intend to have in future. When a visitor types the name it will give a display that the site is under construction.
Since a domain name is mandatory, you can always purchase it in advance without pointing it to any website. Once you have the website ready consider a reliable host like ComputeHost to host your website and make it visible to your targeted audience.
Domain name is the identity for your website. When you want to create a website you have to register with a domain name by paying an annual fee. You then point the domain name to your website. Visitors type the domain name on their browsers and get access to your website.
There are many people who buy the domain name in advance even if their website is not ready as yet. At such times, you cannot point the domain name anywhere. The domain name registrars (from whom you buy and register the domain name) allow you to point the name to a dummy website. So when a visitor types the parked domain name they will either see an under construction board or directed towards some advertisements or links to their own address (registrars).
