Unix and Windows are two different operating systems. While Windows operating system is a licensed system, Unix is an open source operating system. Unix is designed for greater compatibility for adding dynamic content on website by using PHP or CGI scripts and interfacing with MySQL database. Unix based shared hosting is regarded to be more stable and secure, because common malware programs are directed at Windows due to its extensive use. Windows OS is preferred for use of .Net, Visual Basic, Cold Fusion, or ASP/Access scripting combinations. Unix is more commonly used operating system than Windows due to better stability and security.
