If we compare the Cloud Server with a Dedicated Server we will notice the following:

1. Cloud Server

Cloud severs are those servers which can be configured by the users. This configuration of Cloud server makes the server to provide optimum level of performance, control and security, at par with a dedicated server.

But the Cloud server needs not to be hosted on a physical machine hardware, which is only used by the user. A Cloud server resides in a shared virtualised environment. This environment of shared virtualisation is managed by the Cloud hosting provider company, such as ComputeHost.

The user is benefited from the cost saving from scaling of sharing hardware, with other users. The user needs to pay only for the server space the user has used.

Cloud server also allows the user to scale computing resources up or down, as per the requirements of the user’s business. The user needs to pay only for the resources being used by the user, nothing extra. Cloud servers also allows optimisation of IT performance, without putting a huge load on expenditure.

2. Dedicated Server

Dedicated server is a physical machine server, whose entire computing resources are dedicated for the use of only one user. Dedicated servers are of use to only those large or mega business organisations, whose web sites have the burden of extra big traffic of web site visitors, may be sometimes in millions, such as in Ecommerce houses. This dedicated server is also suitable for those business organisations, which need an extra high level of data security.

Dedicated server is for that client who has consistently high demand for server capacity.

Dedicated servers need maintenance and management with capacity for Information Technology. It also requires patches and upgrades from time to time. Dedicated server hosting is the most expensive hosting solution available at present.
